There are artists and then there is Tananuch or as everyone affectionately calls her “New”

If you are going to hire just one artist, hire “New”.

I kid you not. She is a linchpin. She will rock your world!

In all my years of teaching I have never seen someone who had a better understanding, natural ability and technical execution of Roto and Paint. She is in a league of her own when it comes to BG Prep. She can spot a 1 pixel shift or a hole in the Alpha a mile away.

As Great as she is with Prep she is even better at Comp. So much so that I hired her a couple of years after her graduation to become my BG Prep / Assistant Compositing Instructor at Lostboys.

Every batch of students she has taught has gone on to have incredible careers in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and London. 10 Years ago, it took a whole lot of production experience to get started in a Triple A VFX Studio. Studios did not believe a student finishing School could do the tasks that was required of them. So they told students to get more production experience.

But with New on-board, we managed to train Students to a level that they could simply walk into a Studio and just start working.

New is one of the main reasons why Lostboys was amongst the top 5 VFX schools in the world! She is patience, fair and most of all gives students tough love when they need it. She is not a person who is going to do something as good as she can do it, she is a person who will do a task to the best the task can be done. This little distinction is what sets her apart against virtually any other artist I have trained.

Too many people reach a level where their performance is good enough and then stop working on getting better. New is on the path to mastery and her avoids this by continually upping her goals, challenging herself to break through her current ceiling, and staying the forever apprentice.
