Become a production-ready compositor by learning how real shots are built, broken, reviewed, and fixed under professional standards.

What this program prepares you for

Most compositing training teaches tools.
This program teaches decision-making.

By the end of 26 weeks, you will be able to:

  • Build full compositing shots from plate to final
  • Diagnose why work fails and how to correct it
  • Apply notes clearly and revise work without guesswork
  • Work inside real production-style workflow
  • Produce a reel that holds up under professional review

This is not about speed or shortcuts.
It is about reliability.

Who this program is for

This program is designed for:

  • Artists who have completed basic compositing training
and want to reach professional standards
  • Career switchers prepared for an intensive, structured program
  • International students seeking studio-aligned instruction
  • Learners who want direct feedback and clear expectations

This program is not designed for casual study or passive participation.

What is VFX?

Here is a short video answer made by one of our graduates, an instructor, and an animator.

industry standard software & AI-Assisted Workflows

This program is built around the tools and workflows used in professional visual effects production.

The primary compositing platform is Foundry Nuke, the industry-standard software for high-end visual effects compositing. Students work inside Nuke throughout the program, building and revising shots using the same node-based workflows studios rely on.

To support advanced shot development, students are also introduced to Mocha and Silhouette for planar tracking, roto, and paint tasks where specialized tools improve accuracy and efficiency.

Alongside these established tools, the program addresses machine-assisted and AI-supported workflows as they exist today in production environments. These tools are treated as accelerators for specific tasks, not substitutes for judgment or fundamentals.

Students learn:

  • Where automation is appropriate and where it fails
  • How AI-generated or assisted elements must be evaluated, corrected, and integrated
  • How to maintain visual coherence, consistency, and responsibility when using assisted tools
  • Why fundamentals remain non-negotiable even as tools evolve

The focus is not on chasing new technology.
It is on understanding how emerging tools fit responsibly into professional pipelines without lowering standards.

This approach ensures students are prepared for current studio workflows while remaining adaptable as tools continue to change.

weekly industry mentors

Most training programs rely on occasional guest sessions or end-of-term reviews.
This program is structured differently.

Throughout the 26-week program, students receive weekly shot reviews from working industry compositors. These mentors are active professionals reviewing work against current studio expectations, not theoretical standards.

  • Mentor feedback focuses on:
  • Shot structure and decision-making
  • Why work succeeds or fails under review
  • How to address notes clearly and efficiently
  • What studios actually evaluate at each stage of a shot

These reviews are not one-off events. They are a consistent part of the learning loop, designed to reduce the gap between training and professional practice.

The goal is not exposure to industry voices.
The goal is repeated, informed evaluation that helps students understand how their work will be judged in real production environments.

the four pillars of compositing that will be covered

The curriculum focuses on the core compositing tasks studios expect you to perform.
All work is reviewed against production standards

01 / integration

Blending CG, matte paintings, and live action into cohesive images that hold up under scrutiny.

02 / paint

Plate cleanup, object removal, and reconstruction without visible artifacts.

03 / keying

Extracting clean mattes from difficult footage with correct edge behavior and color relationships.

04 / roto

Precise isolation work that supports complex composites and downstream processes.
